One Little Lavender Flower

This morning, while getting ready for the day, I glanced out through my sliding door and my eyes landed on the little lavender plant growing in my garden.

For what felt like ages, it had simply been there. Green. Quiet. Growing slowly. Nothing dramatic. At one stage, I even wondered if it had died. No explosion of flowers.

Just faithfully doing what God had created it to do.

Then today, there it was.

One beautiful purple bloom.

And yes… I was ridiculously excited over one tiny flower. Honestly, if anyone had been watching, they probably would have wondered why a grown woman was celebrating a lavender plant like it had just won an award.

But sometimes God speaks through the simplest things.

That little lavender became a gentle reminder that not everything blooms at the same time.

Perhaps that’s something your heart needs to hear today.

Maybe it feels as though everyone around you is blossoming. Someone else seems to be achieving their dreams, building something exciting, finding opportunities, or stepping into a new season. Meanwhile, you may feel like you’re still sitting beneath the soil, quietly wondering when your turn will come.

Can I encourage you, even if it’s just a little bit of sunshine?

Just because you cannot see growth doesn’t mean growth isn’t happening.

The roots matter too.

Some of life’s most beautiful work happens beneath the surface, in the hidden places that nobody else can see.

I don’t believe God was ever in the business of making copies.

Just look around His creation.

Every flower is different.

Every tree has its own shape.

Every sunrise and sunset paints the sky a little differently.

So why do we spend so much energy trying to bloom like somebody else?

There is nobody else who can bloom exactly the way you can.

Comparison has a way of stealing our joy. It quietly whispers that you’re behind or that you should be further along by now. It can make another person’s flowers look more beautiful while causing you to overlook the seeds God has planted in your own life.

But the lavender wasn’t trying to become a rose.

It wasn’t looking across the garden wishing it had bigger petals or brighter colours.

It simply bloomed as lavender.

Beautifully.

Quietly.

In its own time.

Perhaps the invitation today is not to rush your season or compare your journey.

Perhaps the invitation is simply to trust the Gardener.

To trust that God knows exactly when to water, when to prune, when to strengthen roots, and when to bring forth new blooms.

And while waiting for your own flowers to appear, don’t stop being kind.

Celebrate the people who are blooming around you.

Encourage them.

Cheer them on.

Love well.

Their season does not take away from yours.

The garden is beautiful because different flowers bloom at different times.

And if today feels like a season beneath the soil, keep trusting.

Seeds don’t stay buried forever.

Growth doesn’t always happen where eyes can see it.

And God’s timing is never careless.

One day, perhaps when you least expect it, there will be a bloom that reminds you He has been working all along.

If these words find you today, I hope they remind you to be gentle with yourself.

Your story isn’t behind.

Your roots are still growing.

And the Gardener has never once forgotten where He planted you.

One Little Lavender Flower

Blooming isn’t a competition; it’s a personal journey of growth with God.

You don’t need to bloom like anyone else.

You simply need to bloom in the way God created you to.

And when your season comes, it will be beautiful because it will be yours.

With love,

MC Bloom
